The Mutuals Register is a public record of industrial and provident societies, building societies, credit unions
and also the various kinds of society registered under the Friendly Societies Acts. For further information
about mutual societies generally
see here. If you require copies of any documents registered for any of
these societies then contact

You can search for a society by entering the details you have in one or more of the boxes that appear by clicking on ‘Search’ above.
Our registration function for mutual societies is separate from our role as regulator of the financial services industry
in the UK. However some mutual societies also come under our regulatory jurisdiction as defined in the Financial
Services and Markets Act 2000 (FSMA) because they are authorised to conduct financial services business.
Building societies, credit unions, and many friendly societies fall into this category. Details of mutual
societies which are also authorised firms are included in the
FSA Register.
(This is a public record of financial services firms, individuals and other bodies which fall or have come
under our regulatory jurisdiction as defined in FSMA). Most industrial and provident societies and other
societies registered under the Friendly Societies Act 1974 (such as working men’s clubs) are not regulated by the FSA.
